The Central Bank will announce its 2018 Roadmap including a roadmap for the proposed introduction of the flexible inflation targeting regime, on the 03rd of January, 2018, the Central Bank governor announced last week. Speaking at a seminar, Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy said the flexible inflation targeting regime enables a much more forward looking, data driven, proactive monetary policy supported by accountability and legal frameworks.
Commenting on the exchange rate policy, he said the idea is to have certain parameters within which the exchange rate will be managed in a flexible and market–oriented way. “The ways and means of strengthening the foreign exchange market will also be spelt out in the CBSL roadmap,” the governor said.
