Malaysian PM due today

Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak will arrive in the country today on the invitation of President Maithripala Sirisena. The official visit will be from December 17-19.

A release from the Foreign Ministry said, “The visit is of special significance in the context of the growing bilateral partnership between the two countries, and in the backdrop of Sri Lanka and Malaysia celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The Malaysian Prime Minister will be received at the Presidential Secretariat tomorrow with an official guard of honour and gun salute that will be followed by bilateral discussions covering a wide range of subjects.

The visit will be marked by signing of three MoUs in Science, Technology and Innovation; Bio-Economy Development Cooperation; and Training for Diplomatic Personnel. A stamp and a first-day cover will also be released to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

The Malaysian premier will discuss economic cooperation and trade and investment between the two countries during a meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe

The Malaysian Prime Minister will participate in a roundtable meeting with Sri Lankan investors and businessmen as well.

The visit of Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak follows the official visit of President Maithripala Sirisena to Malaysia in December last year.
