Chief Minister, NWP PC Dharmasiri Dassanayake, at a media conference held for provincial journalists in the Kurunegala District on Thursday (22) informed that there are about 36,000 coconut cadjan-thatched dwellings in the Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts of the NWP. Hence arrangements have been made to launch a special housing program for the low-income groups in the North Western Province, next year, with the assistance of several non- governmental organizations at a cost of Rs 5 M.
The NWP-PC has allocated a sum of Rs10 M for 2018, from its budget for housing, the Chief Minister said. He said, a special loan scheme for public servants in the NWP would be launched next year with a capital of Rs 800 M.
