'Spellbound 2017' talent concert

St. Peter's College, Colombo had the unique opportunity of having 3 generations of Peterites on one platform performing the talent concert 'Spellbound 2017' bringing wonderment and joy to the audience at the College quadrangle recently.

The event was held under the patronage of Archbishop of Colombo (Emeritus) Most Rev. Dr. Oswald Gomis, Rector of the School Rev. Fr. Trevor Martin and four prestigious judges, former national fast bowler Chaminda Vaas, popular vocalist Chitral Somapala, who later thrilled the crowd with his singing, President's Counsel Saliya Pieris and President's Counsel Neville Abeyratne.

It was a sparkling night with four of Sri Lanka’s most popular bands with Old Peterites, which included Wildfire, Lineone, Magic Box and 2Forty2 performed.

To add even more sparkle to the event, a College wide invitation brought in 1000 students who wished to perform at the show and through a competition 20 boys were chosen as the most outstanding performers who showcased their talents in dance, singing and beat boxing. Some even performed magic through their mathematical and logical thinking skills. Six of these school boys emerged as the finalists and won awards.

The first prize was won by Opera Singer Dinel Silva of Grade 8, second prize to Umain Samaranayake of Grade 10 for putting on a brilliant magic show and the duo of drummer Haleg Seneviratne and electric guitarist Dinel Fernando was third.
