Expressions of Black ink

31 December, 2017

Young people are expressing their thoughts in various forms today. One such creative soul is Dukesheeka Jenorge. Currently studying for her Bachelor in IT at Colombo University, she started her basic sketches in Grade 9. This initial stage of her designs and drawings were motivated by her mother. Over the years Dukesheeka has become an expert in using black ink on various backgrounds from paper to ceramic pots. Her intricate designs require a firm hand and loads of patience. She laughingly says “I am a left hander, and perhaps that’s why I have this ability “. Whilst at Methodist College she captained the Badminton team. This young girl excels in placing her designs on greeting cards, and during her free time also engages in origami another form of ancient Japanese expression, where objects are made by folding paper.
