Mercantile Investments and Finance PLC (MI) clinched the All Island Silver Award in Best Corporate Social Responsibility Reporting at the CA Annual Report Awards Ceremony held at the BMICH recently.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was the chief guest.

MI having established itself as a renowned institution in the Finance Company sector, with over 50 years of resounding success, further expanded its presence in the last decade and has always taken the initiative to make a lasting difference in people’s lives and livelihoods, going even beyond commercial boundaries. As another initiative, through MI’s budding microfinance operation, the company has enriched communities across the country, empowering women to improve their family’s living standards, a company spokesman said.

True to MI’s ethos, going that extra mile to help society, its social responsibility Initiatives launched each year have helped the less fortunate and underprivileged meet various needs, which would otherwise go unattended. For the second time, MI was recognized as a “great place to work” by the Great Place to Work Institute for 2017, which highlights MI’s people centric approach and professional management culture. Therefore, winning this award reinforces MI’s standing among society and recognizes the company’s efforts in giving back to people.
