The officers of the Police Special Task Force (STF) and the Northern Naval Command seized 95 kilograms of illegal drugs during a raid in Valvettithurai yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off received from intelligence personnel, the stash of drugs was discovered from a grave in the area, the Police said. The haul of drugs consisted of 87.8 kilos of Kerala Ganja, 3.6 kilos of Hashish and 3.9 kilos of Opium.
The market value of the total consignment of drugs is said to be approximately Rs. 30 million. The haul has been handed over to the Valvettithurai Police for further investigation.
According to Police spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara, no suspects have been identified as yet.
