Teenager drowns in Eravur
A 15-year-old boy drowned on Friday evening while bathing with a group of friends in the sea. The incident occurred near the Punnakudah area Police said adding that the child has not been found yet.
The missing child has been identified as Mohamed Azwan of Saddam Hussein Nagar in Eravur. Police and the Navy have commenced a search mission. Eravur Police are investigating.
Man knocked down by train
A man was knocked down by a train in Bambalapitiya on Friday night. The train has been plying from Maradana to Aluthgama at the time of the incident.
While the identity of the victim is unknown Police say he appears to be aged between 25 - 30 years and was wearing a blue shirt and a grey pair of pants. Bambalapitiya Police are now attempting to ascertain the identity of the man through further investigations.
Youth murdered in Hikkaduwa
Police say they have commenced investigations into the murder of a youth in the Carsland Watta in Hikkaduwa on Friday.
The youth had been stabbed with a sharp object.
While he was admitted to the Arachchi Kanda Hospital he had later succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has been identified as Bopage Kavinda aged 17. Police have arrested a 16-year-old in connection with the killing.
