Football: Renown SC Colombo FC in battle for title

Renown Sports Club one time champions of the Dialog Champions League have done well this season to take the top spot after the completion of round one.

After the completion of sixteen games Renown SC managed to stay unbeaten winning 12 and drawing four matches to collect a total of 40 points. They have netted in 44 goals in their favour while giving away 17 goals throughout the round one.

Colombo FC is behind the leaders with 37 points from the same number of matches. They too have a fine season so far having won 11 matches, drawing 4 and losing only a single game. The New Youngs SC from Wennappuwa occupies the third slot with 29 points.

The most notable is the drawback of many leading clubs who have won this title many times in the past.

Especially the teams in the caliber of Saunders SC, Police SC, Negombo Youth SC, SL Army, SL Navy, Blue Star SC and Java Lane SC. Out of the three forces only Sri Lanka Air Force has been able to be in top five slots after completing sixteen games in round one and one second round game to gain 28 points.

All Football fans are looking forward to see the outcome of round two which has already commenced. The two top teams on the points table Renown SC and Colombo SC are sure to enter the second with the intention of touching the coveted prestigious Dialog Champions title this season.
