Sri Lanka’s Largest Education and Careers Exhibition ‘EDEX Expo 2018’ will be held at the BMICH from January 19 to 21 commencing 9.00 am each day.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe, an old Royalist, will be the chief guest on the opening day of the EDEX Expo. The exhibition is conducted by the Royal College Union.

At the media briefing, it was stated that thousands of Sri Lankan youth were able to pursue higher studies and also found professional employment here and abroad due to the painstaking efforts of the EDEX career guidance programmes. Royal College, Principal B.A. Abeyratna spoke of the value of receiving a higher education by students especially after their schooling.

EDEX Chairman Mahinda Galagedara highlighted that EDEX is the country’s one and only educational and career guidance programme, conducted continuously for a long period.

The 15th anniversary in 2018 will be a momentous occasion, he said and thanked the founders, past EDEX members, RCU officials, principals and College authorities who extended their fullest support to make this national endeavour a success .

He said most of our present day urban students and parents are better aware of choices, options and opportunities in post-secondary education which leads to gainful employment.

Galagedara also said that students who are pursuing higher education will get credit facilities on concessionary terms and said both state owned and many private sector banks including the EDEX official banker National Development Bank have introduced long term educational loan facilities to students.

“I am also happy to see that most universities and educational institutes offer full and partial scholarships to youth engaged in higher studies,” he said. This year’s Expo will provide psychometric testing with career guidance, highlighting market relevant skills and selected programmes to offer equity to student communities.

The EDEX Entrepreneurship Zone will add a business impetus for those who have a desire to become entrepreneurs themselves.
