Celebrating 15 years of Excellence in Education and Careers

Sri Lanka’s largest Education Exhibition and Job Fair – EDEX Expo will be held from January 19 – 21, at the BMICH Colombo from 9 a.m onwards. It was unveiled at a press briefing held at Royal College Union (RCU) Skills Development Centre, Colombo.

Speaking at the event Principal Royal College, Colombo, B.A. Abeyrathna said, “The Edex Expo initially started at Royal College in 2004. It has transformed from being a school career fair, to a renowned global name in the education market. The expo has continued to empower Sri Lankan youth to be globally competitive and reach the pinnacle of achievement. Currently, it is one of the biggest education exhibitions in Sri Lanka. The country needs more professionals for every field and we are thankful to the EDEX management for conducting programs of this nature, every year.”

The Expo will be the 32nd in the continuing series. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is expected to declare open the event, as Chief Guest. A Job-Fair and Entrepreneurship Zone will complement the 15th anniversary celebration of excellence in the professional sphere. The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) too continue their Strategic Partnerships signifying EDEX’s relevance to many industry chambers and employers. EDEX, Chairman Mahinda Galagedara highlighted that EDEX has been regarded as the country’s one and only educational and career guidance program, conducting continuously for a period of 15 years.

EDEX Expo 2018 will encompass a platform of local and global convergence of key post-secondary educational stakeholders, comprising over 200 education exhibition booths, representing local and foreign universities and institutes from over 20 countries.

International presence will be enhanced with Education Malaysia sponsored Malaysian pavilion together with country pavilions from Japan, Australia, India, and France. Direct or local representatives from leading Universities in USA, UK, Russia, China, Switzerland, Singapore and Turkey will enhance the value of the Expo. An added feature to mark 15 years of excellence will be celebrity interviews to showcase professionalism, talent and skills, of high achieving professionals for the youth to emulate. This activity to be known as ‘Edutainment’ to be staged between 3 to 6 pm on all 3 days will witness key figures in society being interviewed and sharing their stories and experiences together with acts of entertainment to motivate the youth to bring out their intrinsic skills and talents.

The event sponsors in the Platinum category are National Institute of Business Management (NIBM), National School of Business Management (NSBM), Colombo Institute of Research and Psychology (CIRP) and Education Malaysia. Its Gold Sponsors are: the American Education Center Ltd, ESOFT Metro Campus, Royal Institute of Colombo, CINEC Campus, Scottish Qualifications Authority and American International Campus.

The National Development Bank has come on board as the official banker, while Citypak continues to be the official courier. EDEX Job Fair will create a conduit between job providers and seekers. It will comprise over 30 stalls of reputed and leading corporates representing many important segments in the economy. Job seekers are invited to upload their CVs to edexcareers.lk.

The Psychometric Testing Centre, in collaboration with the National Career Guidance Association (NCGA) will provide the youth yeoman service in guiding youth on the right career paths.

The EDEX Entrepreneurship Zone, will continue to provide expert advice on starting their own business and establish themselves in gainful employment. EDEX Nenapahana, the outreach program providing assistance to rural schools to upgrade their libraries reached a milestone in December 2017 covering 100 schools in the past 5 years.
