The eighth edition of the tourism and travel fair, Sancharaka Udawa, organised by the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) will be held on May 4 and 5.

This was announced at a media briefing in Colombo last week.

The exhibition offers a platform for B2B and B2C segments while facilitating industry stakeholders to engage with related government authorities.

The exhibiting space is open to small, medium and large businesses related to tourism.

This year’s edition will also feature outbound tourism industry stakeholders such as travel agents and airlines. These exhibitors will offer deals on holidays.

There will be over 250 stalls and over 10,000 people are expected to attend. It will be open from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. The event will culminate with a fellowship for new entrants to the industry to meet industry veterans. Awards will also be presented for the Best Stall and Lifetime achievement for leading lights in the industry.

The main objective of this event is to provide maximum exposure to mainstream tourism, thereby creating a platform for small and medium service providers to network and build vital links with tour operators and thereby enter the wider spectrum of the tourism industry.

Free stalls will be provided for tourism related government departments such as Department of Wildlife, Central Cultural Fund and Tourist Police to enable the trade and public sector to interact.

Universities such as Colombo, Uva-Wellassa, Kelaniya and Sabaragamuwa will also be provided with free stalls to encourage students to study tourism and avail of the perfect platform to interact with trade officials.

Interesting sessions have been planned on the sidelines of the exhibition.
