Water

25 February, 2018

Water is one of the most important natural resources. But people waste water because they don’t realize the importance of water. It is said that a person can live for several days without food, but he or she cannot live without water. Some factories drain their industrial and chemical waste into waterways, posing a deadly threat to humans and animals. The quantity of water available for consumption is not sufficient for the entire population of the world. People living in certain villages in the dry zone of Sri Lanka have to trek two or three miles in search of drinking water. When there is a drought, hundreds of cattle and other animals in these areas die due to lack of water. Educational programmes must be implemented to make people aware of the importance of water. Let’s preserve our water resources for future generations.
