Lorry topples killing one

A lorry toppled on the Trincomalee - Anuradhapura main road on Friday in the Mudaliyarkulam area when the driver lost control of the vehicle causing the fatal accident. According to the Police, the driver and one other individual travelling in the lorry were admitted to the Trincomalee Hospital following which the driver had succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as 62-year-old Ismail Ishak of China Bay.

Heroin peddlers arrested

Two men were arrested by the Maharagama Police for possessing 3.7 grams of heroin on Friday. The duo was arrested near the Pannipitiya Railway station based on a tip-off received, the Police said. The men aged 55 and 42 are residents of Pannipitiya. Maharagama Police are investigating.
