Acting on a tip-off Gampaha police arrested a gang leader known as ‘Pas Podda’ and two of his companions yesterday.
Police had found one T56 automatic weapon, 58 rounds of ammunition, one Magazine cartridge, one American manufactured pistol with 8 rounds of live cartridges, one magazine of a pistol, one revolver with 3 live bullets.
The leader was identified as Hadunge Saman Rohitha Perera (41) of Madagamuwa, Kotugoda, Gampaha. The other suspects were identified as Wellaboda Lahiru Navodaya Perera alias ‘Thalaya’of Dolagatha Road, Udugampola, and Dissanayake Mudiyanselage Pradeep Sampath (31) of Pasgammana Road, Madagamuwa. Kotugoda.
All three suspects were to be produced to the Gampaha Magistrate. Further investigations are being conducted by the Gampaha HQI Lakshman Bandara.
