St. Peter’s College produced a dynamic curtain-raiser performance against Zahira College to romp home winners 48-12 in their inter-school League rugby match at Havelock Park yesterday.
It was a rousing show by the Peterites who took a 34-0 lead at half time and then went on to score two more tries to take their try tally to eight four of which were converted by centre Shehan Liyanapathirana.
Co-centre Raveen Fernando crossed the line three times with his customary side-stepping runs for three of the tries as the Peterites surged into a 19-0 lead within the first 15 minutes of the match.
Two of Fernando’s tries came in the second half. Zahira made some forays and scored two tries but were always up against a strong Peterite defence.
