The e-commerce platform, Daraz.lk is poised for growth. However, the key element in the process, trust, should be built among the customers to make it more effective, an official from the e-commerce transaction network said.

“We are pleased with the growth prospects of Sri Lankan e-commerce transactions. The numbers will grow in the future with the popularity of this mode among the increasing number of internet browsers.

Trust is the key element for the growth of e-commerce and we need to build it among customers effectively,” Daraz.lk Country Manager Bart Van Dijk said.

“We see a tremendous potential in Sri Lanka. Daraz is going to increase the physical presence in the country.

There will be 10 cities in the pipeline for last mile hubs including Gampaha, Kandy, Kurunegala, Chilaw, Panadura and Galle.

This will help support the delivery done faster. The last mile hubs will also act as the pick up point for the customers,” he said.

With the expectation that more people will go online for transactions, Daraz.lk has launched Avurudu Wasi, a promotional program to attract online shoppers. The promotion ends on April 15.

“This will be another massive sale where Rs 100 million revenue is expected to be achieved. The promotion will be conducted with partnership with Reckitt Benkiser, Brother, Standard Chartered Bank and Seylan Bank,” Daraz Marketing Manager Naresh Surendran said.

Avurudu Wasi offers discounts as large as 85% as well as further discounts of up to 10% off plus installments plans for a maximum of 24 months provided by the event’s official banking partners. The category unlock process begun on March 15 and go on till the March 24 when all categories will be unlocked.

An official pre-order launch of the brand-new Samsung S9 will also be part of the sale’s agenda.

“The purpose of the Avurudu Wasi sale is to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, by giving and receiving gifts in the true avurudu spirit, regardless of their respective budgets, he said.

Daraz.lk strives to build the most customer-centric online destination where customers can find and discover virtually anything they want to buy online by giving them more of what they want, a vast selection, best prices, fast and reliable delivery and a trusted and convenient experience with a world-class e-commerce platform. - SJ
