Sri Lanka Cricket has complained to the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the ICC on the behavior of some of the Bangladesh team players who had damaged the dressing room at the R Premadasa Stadium during a tense league match of the Hero Nidahas trophy tri-series T20 International played on Friday.

A window of the visitors’ dressing room was found damaged following a nerve-wracking run chase that saw Bangladesh edge out Sri Lanka by two wickets with a ball to spare to qualify to play India in the final today.

The ground staff it is learnt has reported the damage to ICC Match Referee Chris Broad who is certain to come down hard on a few players following Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan’s reaction outside the boundary line after the batsmen in the middle Mahmudullah and Mustafizur Rahman had disputed a bouncer bowled by fast bowler Isuru Udana which they thought should have been signalled a wide by the umpires.

However it is learnt that due to inconclusive evidence as CCTV footage does not cover inside dressing rooms the match referee had no sufficient proof to hold anyone responsible and take action against the damage.

Broad however had access to the umpires report on the on-field incidents and on the evidence available fined Shakib and substitute fielder Nurul Hasan. There is also the factor that both sides were well below the required over rate for the innings and that could also bring about fines and suspensions into play.

Shakib denied that he was trying to call back his batsmen and said that emotions got the better of him. “I wasn’t calling them back. I was telling them to play. You can describe it both ways. It depends on how you see it,” Shakib said at the post-match press conference.

“We are all humans and making mistakes is in our nature. We should take it on our chin and move forward. We always had healthy competition on the ground, but outside, we are friends. Emotions take over, I need to be careful as a leader of a team, I will be careful next time,” Shakib said.

There were also some altercations on the field between Sri Lanka and Bangladeshi players during and after the match that left a bad impression on player behavior in what was a closely contested game.
