Thomian off-spinner Kishan Munasinghe ran through the Royal batting taking five wickets for 32 runs to subject them to a heavy 131-run defeat in the 43rd Battle of the Blues limited-over cricket encounter played at the SSC ground yesterday.

Munasinghe’s deadly spell saw Royal chasing S. Thomas’ total of 216-9 being bundled out for a paltry 85 – the lowest score made by Royal in the series.

With this win the Thomians retained the Mustangs Trophy for the fifth consecutive year.

Munasinghe took the man of the match as well as the best bowler’s and best fresher’s awards. Kalana Perera won the best batsman’s award.

S. Thomas’ 216-9 in 50 overs (Dulith Gunaratne 30, Shalin de Mel 22, Kishan Munasinghe 20, Manisha Rupasinghe 21, Thevin Eriyagama 36, Kalana Perera 37, Yuvin Herath 2/28)

Royal 85 in 34.4 overs (Kavindu Madarasinghe 23, Kavindu Pathiratne 19, Kishan Munasinghe 5/32)
