Teejey and Casual Wear win Brandix volleyball

The men’s team from Teejey Lanka defeated Brandix Athleisure, Polonnaruwa 27-25 and 25-22 while in the women’s final the team from Brandix Casual Wear, Seeduwa beat Brandix Fast Fashion from Awissawella in straight sets, soundly beating them 15-7 and 15-8 respectively at the Sugathadasa stadium yesterday.

More than 300 players participated in the preliminary rounds of the tournament. In its eight year, the Brandix ‘Rasadiya Kusalanaya’ is the largest volleyball tournament conducted by a private sector entity Sri Lanka.

Conducted for non-executive employees (or associates, as they are referred to at Brandix), the tournament provides an opportunity for Brandix associates to develop and showcase their skills in the country’s national sport, while promoting employee interaction and team spirit.

Speaking to Sunday Observer after the finals captain of Teejey Lanka Sumudu Madushanka said: “We become runners up last year and happy to clinch the trophy this year. This is not happens without our management support and we had a great training the past few months and thanks to our management they given us superb support and encouragement”.

Meanwhile runners up captain from Brandix Casual Wear Seeduwa Anika Ishan said: “We have done our maximum part and our opponents were also very talented and they played well in the entire game and I thank all the participants and their supporters. We become a finalists for the last four years.
