FA Cup football kicks off today

The FA Cup Championship - 2018 will kick off today when Old Royalist SC face Kolons SC (Colombo Football League) while Light House SC will play against New Green Light SC (Batticaloa Football League) at the CR and FC ground Colombo and the Weber Stadium, Batticaloa respectively.

A total of 715 teams will vie for the FA Cup 2018 edition and all matches will be played according to the FFSL Competitions Fixture.

At the league stage 60 Leagues will vie for the Inter League Stage. The League Champions will qualify for the District/Provincial Stage while Champion teams of each League are eligible to register players on loan from their respective League teams prior to the District/Provincial Stage.

The number of On-Loan Players will be decided by the FFSL Competition Committee.

District/Provincial Stage: Sixty League Champions Teams will vie in the District/Provincial Stage.

Thirty two teams will qualify for the Final Stage.

Final Stage: FA Cup 2016/17 Final 32 teams will be drawn with the 32 teams qualified from the District/Provincial Stage with an Open Draw.

The FA Cup Championship 2018 will be conducted on a Knock-out Basis. The First Stage matches will be played within the respective Leagues and will be conducted by the League Secretaries in coordination with the Competition Department of the FFSL in accordance with the Competition Fixture.

Non-citizens or foreign players are not allowed to register in the FA Cup Championship 2018 while each participating club may register a maximum of three (3) players who are employed permanently or temporarily (volunteer basis) in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police or Civil Security within the 25 players at Registration.
