The strong St Peter’s College team registered a comfortable 43-7 victory over D.S.Senanayake College in their inter school League rugby match at Havelock Park yesterday to finish the first round unbeaten from five matches.

The Peterites collected their points through seven tries four of which were converted after DS Senanayake scored a surprise first try through S. Sanjana that was converted by D. Hemasiri in the opening minutes of the game.Peterite scrum half Jason Karunaratne as usual played major role in the match as he scored two important tries that spurred on his team. He had to leave the field in the second half through injury.

The Peterites scored their third try through Thivanka Liyanapathirana who also made the conversions.

Rukshan Madushanka scored another try for the Peterites under the posts as he covered some 20 metres making the scores 26-7 in the first half.

The Peterites increased their lead in the second half when Rukshan Madushanka got into the action and went through the defences to touch down and give Liyanapathirana his fourth conversion.

Dilshan Madushanka scored two more tries for the Peterites in the dying stages of the game to make the final scores 43-7.

Ishanka Abeynayake made his debut as a referee in the match.
