‘Football for Friendship’

Manchester Soccer Academy of Sri Lanka conducted the ‘Football for Friendship’ event with its soccer kids, coaches, officials and parents in collaboration with the International Day of Football at the Race Course recently.

Minister of Sports Faizer Musthafa, Western Provincial Councilor and President of Akram Foundation Mohamed Akram and Technical Director of the FFSL Chaminda Steinewall graced the occasion. Two young football players Dinuka Bandara and Ayaan Sadath both from Manchester Soccer Academy were selected to represent Sri Lanka in the ‘Football for Friendship’ programme and witness the opening ceremony of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Dinuka Bandara who is selected as the goal keeper tied the Friendship band on the arm of the Minister of Sports and Mohamed Ayaan Sadath who will perform as a young journalist tied the Friendship band on the arm of the FFSL Technical Director. The ritual was also performed in reverse.

Manchester Soccer Academy was established in March 17, 2017 under the patronage of the present Minister of Sports Faizer Mustafa and it has grown from strength to strength with its under-15 teams participating in several football tournaments including international events.
