Samagi Sports Club, Boosa organized their 48th annual cycle race with the blessings of the Sri Lanka Cycling Federation that was won by Sri Lanka’s elite rider Jeewan Jayasinghe (Air Force) while the other riders who followed him were Sanath Jayasinghe (Army) and Nishantha Perera (Dehiwala Mt. Lavinia Municipal Council).

The event was contested by 52 leading riders from all parts of the country and covered a distance of 150 kilo meters.

The biggest race to be held in the Southern Province was sponsored by RS Steel Company and its chairman Dr. Shivalingam Ramesh and all top level officials of the establishment were present on the occasion.

“RS Steel Company came forward to fully sponsor ‘Samagi Cycle Tour - 2018’ for a special reason.

Sporting events contribute towards bequeathing discipline, positive frame of mind and strength of the youth. It is significant that presently Sri Lankan youth pay more interest towards cycling races.

With this rejuvenated interest, our sportsmen are now keen in participating in international cycling events”, said Ramesh.
