Five Sri Lankan boxers prepare for Asian Games

Five boxers from Sri Lanka along with a coach have been sent to join a ten-day training camp which concludes on May 20 in Turkmenistan.

The boxers are Thiwanka Ranasinghe, Dinudu Saparamadu, Anusha Kodituwakku, Keshani Hansika and Krishmi Dharmathilaka along with coach Amila Aravinda Thissera.

It is part of their preparation for the Asian Games in Indonesia in August. The training camp was organized by the Asian Boxing Confederation as part of their newly launched Development Program.

Ukraine’s top coach Vladimir Vinnikov, who is presently working with the Sri Lankan boxers is leading the sessions of the training camp where 12 women and 52 men are in training and the facilities and the whole environment said to be of Olympic Games standard.

International boxing experts say the camp was a good opportunity for boxers and coaches of the participating teams to share their experiences.
