Trinity College held Isipathana College to a fitting 12-12 draw in their second round inter-school League rugby match at Havelock Park yesterday.

Trinity held on to a 12-6 lead at half time but Isipathana hit back to draw level in the second half through four penalties.

It only meant that both sides conceded too many penalties and made far too many mistakes which turned the contest into a drab draw.

The result dashed any chances Isipathana had of staking a claim for the League title while Trinity with four defeats in the tournament had nothing to lose. Trinity dominated the first half but Isipathana’s Nimalka Ruberu ensured the match ended in a draw when he put over a penalty to level the scores 12-12 at the end.

Trinity’s scored two tries one of which was converted with the first try scored off a rolling maul through prop Joshua Peter.

Trinity’s second try was scored by Mahdi Abdulla that was converted by Akitha Sakalasuriya who missed converting the first try.

Ruberu was responsible for executing Isipathana’s four penalties.

In the 20th minute of the game Isipathana prop Pasindu Dissanayake was injured during a rolling maul and ended up in an epilepsy situation that compelled him to seek medication and leave the field.

Joes beat Zahira

The Joes led 19-0 at half time.
