27 May, 2018

Hortan Plains is a very popular place among both local and foreign tourists. It is situated in the highlands of the Central Province in Sri Lanka. The distance from Nuwara Eliya to Horton Plains is 32 kilometres. Horton Plains is considered the highest plateau in the country. It is on an elevation of 2300 metres high. It was discovered by Sir Robert Horton. The park which is about 3160 hectares was declared as a National Park in 1988. This is a place rich with bio diversity and it is home to a wide variety of endemic flora and fauna. We must take necessary steps to protect this treasure for future generations.
