Indian doping gives Sri Lanka bronze

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has revealed that Indian an weightlifter who won the gold medal in the women’s 53kgs division at the Commonwealth Games last month has failed a doping test that will give Sri Lanka the bronze medal.

Sanjita Chanu Khumukcham, 24, was in the same category as Papua New Guinea’s Dika Toua who settled with the silver medal while the bronze went to Rachel LeBlanc-Bazinet of Canada.

If Khumukcham is stripped of her medal, Toua and LeBlanc-Bazinet will be moved up in the winning order with the gold going to PNG.

Chamari Warnakulasuriya of Sri Lanka will come up from fourth place to take the bronze.
