Tree-planting at St. Paul’s Church, Milagiriya

10 June, 2018

St. Paul’s Church, Milagiriya held a symbolic tree planting ceremony during the morning service last Sunday, to mark the commitment of the members of the church on preserving the environment. Vicar of St. Paul’s Church, Rev. Dr. Rienzie Perera led the congregation out into the garden in front of the Anglican Church to witness the symbolic planting of a ‘Na’ (ironwood) plant. The Na tree is Sri Lanka’s National Tree and is indigenous to the wet zone of the country. World Environment Day was marked last week, on June 5, with India the global host this year, on the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution”, an initiative to combat single-use plastic pollution.
