Royal College supporter assaults Peterite coach Martis

10 June, 2018

St. Peter’s College rugby coach Sanath Martis was assaulted by a spectator said to be a former player of the Royal College team of 1992 after yesterday’s title decider at the Royal Sports Complex ground.

Martis who also coached Royal to win the League title last year was being greeted by his last season’s players when he was assaulted.

The attacker was arrested by police personnel at the ground but is said to have been released. Officers from the Special Task Force were present as well. The Old Boys Union and many supporters of St. Peter’s College are reported to have protested the release of the assailant.
