Women teachers wear the traditional saree to schools even during the advanced stages of pregnancy and the doctors have advised the Minister on the necessity of providing a comfortable garment for pregnant teachers.

Accordingly, all pregnant teachers in the school system will be able to use this comfortable dress.

According to the Education Ministry there are 236,000 teachers in the Sri Lanka's education system out of which 172,000 teachers are women.
