Ex-TT coach back in Sri Lanka

Chaminda Sampath Rodrigo, an old boy of Dharmaraja College and the national coach of the table tennis team of the Maldives has returned to Sri Lanka on a short holiday.As a coach he took the Maldives team to Thailand for the World Team Championship in 2016 and the World Championship held in China in the year 2017 in addition for SAF Games in India in the same year.

As a player Chaminda won the Central Province Singles Championship as well as the all Island Singles Championship. Before taking up coaching in the Maldives he was the coach in the North Western Province of Sri Lanka from 1995 to 2013.

During this period the schools he coached were Holy Family Convent, Maliyadewa College, St. Anne’s and John Kothalawela in Kurunegala as well as St. Joseph’s Balika, Kegalle.

He also had a stint at Dharmaraja College and the junior coach of Sri Lanka in 2009 and 2010.
