Kavinda, YMS and Saliya for Trinity

Trinity College have enlisted new coaches for their under-10, 12 and14 teams. They are Kavinda Jayasena (under-10), Y.M.S. Ratnayake (under 12) and Saliya Kumara (under 14) with Asela Ratnayake as assistant.

Kavinda Jayasena played for Trinity, Kandy SC, Havelocks and Sri Lanka. He is the son of the late George Jayasena who played for Vidayrtha College and Kandy Lake Club, Uva, Kandy SC and Sri Lanka.

Ratnayake played for Kingswood College and Navy SC. Saliya Kumara played for Vidyartha College and ended at Trinity College. He too played for Havelocks, Kandy SC and Sri Lanka.

England, Aussie schoolboys in Kandy

Thanks to the efforts of former national cricketer Tony Opatha, young cricketers from England and Australia are to tour Kandy to play a series of matches in the Under-14 to 17 age groups.

They will also make cricket equipment donations to under privileged schools in Kandy.

Kingswood College, Poramadula Central College, Vidyartha College, Ecole International School and Dharmaraja College will feature in the matches.

Radika in Nepal

Former Dharmaraja, Old Trinitains SC, Kandy SC, CH & FC, Up-Country Lions and Sri Lanka Sevens rugby captain Radika Hettiarchchi has signed up to coach the men’s and women’s teams of Nepal.

He is a knowledgeable coach who guided Dharmaraja College to win the inter-school League title in 2013.
