Jamaldeen promoted Police Superintendent

Sri Lanka rugby stalwart Nizam Jamaldeen has been promoted to the rank of Police Superintendent.

Jamaldeen, a record breaking goal kicker and former Sri Lanka fly half, is currently attached to the Prime Minister’s security division. He is currently the head of the Sri Lanka Rugby Referees’ Society and one of the few referees who had a public acceptance.

He played for Isipathana College and later enrolled at the Police department where he excelled in goal kicking.

Jamaldeen also had the rare honour of representing Sri Lanka in five Asiads and several international Sevens tournaments.

He also coached St. Joseph’s College and later Royal College. His two sons Arshad and Aaqil played for Royal College. Aaqil is currently a leading referee.
