Sustainable livelihood through dairy farming

Bandara Menike, who lives in a remote village on the outskirts of Rambukkana is one of the top 100 dairy farmers under a project developed by Nestle. She has received many accolades for continuing to be in dairy farming, focusing on quality and yield. Menike earns a decent monthly income for the milk she supplies to Nestlé and takes pride in what she does. “This is my legacy,” she says. “I worked hard to bring my business to where it is today and my children won’t have to face the same difficulties I went through. Dairy farmers now have a lot of support and opportunities. I would like my children to continue the business and use their education to develop it further,” she says.
