President in Europe to attend global summits

President Maithripala Sirisena left for Europe last morning (14), to take part in several international summits during the week. President arrived in Italy for a state visit yesterday, where he will be attending the 24th session of the Committee on Forestry (COFO) and the 6th World Forest Week organized by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The President is scheduled to spend two days in Italy, where he will be delivering a speech at COFO session on July 16. The summits are expected to explore into possible contributions of forests towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Following this, President Sirisena will leave for Georgia to attend the Open Government Partnership Global Summit from July 17 to 19 .
