Korean returnees meet

EPS Centre of Human Resource Development Services of Korea (HRD) in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), organised the annual gathering of Returnees at the SLBFE auditorium recently.

The annual program is generally open for all Sri Lankans, who returned from Korea on the expiry of their employment contract in Korea under the Employment Permit System.

Over 230 returnees, from all parts of Sri Lanka took part in the event and the Minister of Digital Infrastructure and Foreign Employment, Harin Fernando was the guest of honour

Minister Harin Fernando outlined the importance of using digital infrastructure to contact people working in other countries.

The Director General EPS Center of HRD Korea in Sri Lanka, Kwak Hunjong and Deputy Minister Digital Infrastructure and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara were also present.

Representing the Korean business community in Sri Lanka, several business organisations such as Nuga Best, Korean Clean Tech Lanka Pvt Ltd, Hyundai Construction and Korean Air participated in the event.

The event also included a job-fair with an interview segment and a discussion forum, which saw the participation of Korean employers and the returnees who were seeking job opportunities.

Officials of the Industrial Development Board, Export Development Board, financial institutes (such as Peoples’ Bank, Bank of Ceylon, Seylan Bank, and National Savings Bank), and Marketing Division of the SLBFE provided information with regard to foreign employment opportunities, skills motivation and financial guidance.

Senanayake, Manager, Recruitment, SLBFE, P.A.G.Wijesundara, and Manager, Marketing Division, SLBFE, H.W. Samantha were also present.
