Women’s Open doubles duo, the sisters combination of Anika and Alana Seneviratne beat Janali Manamperi and Ananya Gunawardena 6/3, 6/1 to win the Women’s Doubles at the 103rd Colombo Tennis Championships at the SLTA courts in Colombo on Friday.
The men’s Open Doubles was secured by Dineshkanthan Thangaraja and Sanjeev Mohankumar who beat Mufazzal Hossain and Chathurya Nilaweera 6/3, 6/4
Janali Manamperi and Nelaka Dissanayake won the Girls Under-18 Singles and Boys Under-14 Singles titles respectively. Manamperi beat Savini Jayasuriya 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 in her final while Dissanayake beat Apna Perera 6-1, 6-4 in his final.
Fourteen year-old Anjalika Kurera from Negombo stunned the fancied Anika Seneviratne to win the corresponding women’s final 7-6, 6-2 while Sharmal Dissanayake beat another veteran Davis Cup campaigner Dineshkanthan Thangarajah 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 to clinch the Men’s Singles title.
