5 August, 2018

The premier cricket coaching school in Sri Lanka, the CCC School of Cricket, founded by veteran coach Nelson Mendis will celebrate its 20th anniversary with the annual inter-house tournament on August 11 and 12 at the CCC ground at Maitland Crescent in Colombo.

The tournament will feature seven age groups from under-9 to 14 and over 14 with over 250 students taking the field to test their skills and expertise learnt over the years. The four competing Houses are named after cricketing legend Don Bradman, Gary Sobers, Sachin Tendulkar and Mahela Jayawardena.

Last year Tendulkar House won the Championship beating Jayawardena House who were runners-up. Chief Guest on the final day will be former Sri Lankan Test cricketer and stylish opening batsman Malinda Warnapura who is the present coach of St. Peters’ College and his wife. This year’s event is organized by a special committee of parents headed by Pamoda Weerakkody (Chairperson ), R. Ravichandran, S. Shanmuganathan, Siddhika Williams, Sanjeewa Kadawatharachchi and senior coach Manoj Millawithanachchi. The organisers are predicting two days of interesting cricket with healthy inter- house rivalry and camaraderie. There will also be a match between old boys and coaches.
