Rajabdeen elected Moors SC head

Shafeek Rajabdeen is the new president of Moors Sports Club as he was elected for the 2018/19 term.

Rajabdeen was first elected president in 1999 after serving as treasurer in 1980, the post which he held for 14 years.

During this period he went about raising funds and bringing the club to a sound financial footing. He was also instrumental in completing the new pavilion which was initiated by another top president AJM Muzammil. An ardent lover of billiards and snooker and being a good player himself, he was elected as the president of the Billiards and Snooker Association of Sri Lanka in 1990.

Rajabdeen was also Chairman of the Building Committee of Moors SC and was responsible for commencing the third floor of the new pavilion.

Moors Sports Club is one of the oldest clubs in the country founded in 1908 by members of Colombo Grand Mosque at New Moor Street in the Colombo.

The club later moved to its present location at Muttiah Road in Slave Island.
