Coconut tree

12 August, 2018

The coconut tree is a member of the palm family. It is very useful. We make use of all parts of the coconut tree. The kernel of the young nut is eaten and its water is a refreshing drink. Coconut milk is extracted from the kernel of the mature nut. Coconut milk is used in cooking and making sweets. When the kernel is dried it is called ‘copra’. We get coconut oil from ‘copra’. Spoons are made from the hard shell of the nut. We get timber, firewood, leaves for shelter from the coconut tree. We must protect our valuable coconut tree.
