Zahira College celebrated: centenary Scouts Jamboree

Zahira College, Colombo held its Centenary Scouts Jamboree at the College grounds recently. under the patronage of Principal, Trizviiy Marikkar. Forty schools from the Colombo District and the outstations participated. Many activities with the support of Sri Lanka Army, Air Force and the Navy with district officials and Scout Masters of Zahira College was held at the Jamboree. The chief guest, Chief Commissioner, Sri Lanka Scouts Merille Goonetilleke hoisted the Jamboree flag and said the Scouts Movement is one of the biggest movement in the world which renders tremendous service to all. The Principal presented a memento to the chief guest Merille Goonetilleke. Students from Zahira College and Carey College presented various cultural events. Chairman, Zahira College, Board of Governors Fouzul Hameed and District Scouts Commissioner Suren Wickramatilleke addressed the gathering. Deputy Chief Commissioner, Janaprith Fernando was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and distributed certificates and mementos to the participating schools.

Zahira College, Scout-Master-in-Charge A.M. Amanullah, Senior Vice Principal Ananda Ponnemperuma, Vice Principals A.M. Mihlar, M.T.A. Rauff , Ms. Hijazi Mohideen with sectional heads and Games Prefect Muhiseen Ariff , Board of Governors, Secretary Alavi Mukthar, teachers, students, Old Boys and parents were present. The Organizing Committee Chairman M.F.S. Muheed proposed the vote of thanks.
