The Kuda Oya Commando Challenge Supercross may be in its infancy marking just three seasons, but the action dished out last Sunday in the Monaragala district was out of the ordinary with crashes and somersaults never seen before in the history of motor racing in the country.

One driver Linusha Perera had his race terminated within a few minutes from the start after a major collision while his car was blown up in the crash with his front wheel breaking loose and shooting up sky-high marking the end of his race.

Linusha was rushed to hospital and lucky for him he returned out of danger but only as a spectator with a strapping to his neck.

Driver Ashan Silva once again proved his worth as the overall winner on the day while motorcycle specialist Gayan Sandaruwan beat the rest to take his place on the podium as the best rider.

Spectators were also in for entertainment of the highest order when two riders Sameera Premaratne and his army buddy Buddhika Silva went head to head with the latter even standing on his bike airborne and poking fun at the former whom he beat in the air and on land.

Buddhika Silva is the race leader in the overall standings of the Sri Lanka Super Series with more than 51 points and is firmly tipped to win a car worth Rs.3.5 million at the end of the season.

A massive crowd witnessed the proceedings.
