EDB grooms exporters in Kurunegala

Ten beneficiaries receive offers

The Export Development Board (EDB) presented offer letters to 10 beneficiary enterprises.

The letters were distributed during an awareness seminar on the National Programme to launch 2,000 new exporters at the Blue Sky Hotel, Kurunegala last week.

They were from the rubber and rubber based value-added product, footwear, coconut and coconut based value-added product, machinery parts and components, food packaging, ornamental fish and jewellery manufacturing sectors.

The Market Access Support Program plans to encourage enterprises interested in expanding markets, modernise / upgrade products / services and production processes and increase market access to connect and compete by introducing improved value added products and services.

The program operates under two categories:

Category 1 - Assistance will be up to a maximum of Rs.1 m for projects / activities to be completed within six months on reimbursement basis.

Category 2 - Assistance will be over Rs. 1 m and up to a maximum of Rs. 5 m for projects / activities to be completed within 18 months.

Under Category 2, 40% of the assistance will be provided at the time of signing the agreement with the EDB and the balance will be provided on reimbursement basis depending on project activities.
