4X4 Jimpo Off-Road on September 2

The eighth edition of the Army Engineers Regiment, Four Wheel Drivers Association and Sri Lanka Riders Association 4X4 Jimpo Off Road 2018 championship is scheduled to take place on September 2 at the Embilipitiya Army Training School Centre Complex commencing at 8.30a.m. The Regiment which works under the theme ‘first enter the battle field and leave it at the end’ has planned and developed this picturesque track by its highly experienced technicians for the benefit of the local motor racing fraternity close to the environment of the Chandrika Wewa.

This circuit is named as Over and Under Track as the drivers and riders will compete on a track which resembles the shape of the figure eight. This track also is pack-bridge named ‘compact 200’.

The competitors will have to face many obstacles in fighting to gain supremacy. They also have to make their way through water, sand holes, hill climbing and narrow lanes.

This year the events are classified into four groups as Standard, Standard Modified, 3000cc and Over 3000cc. Under these classes there are around 30 local participants who mainly engage in this sort of Off Road Competitions.

With the entry of the Sri Lanka Riders Association the organisers have made arrangements to have events for riders too that is expected to attract spectators in large numbers on this day. Around 120 local riders and a foreign rider have confirmed their participation.

The sponsors for the day’s events are VV Karunaratne Machinery& Equipment, Senok Trade Combined and CEAT Lanka International.

All proceeds of the 4X4 Jimpo Off Road 2018 will be used for the benefit of families of soldiers who sacrificed their lives, differently able soldiers, welfare facilities of the Regiment and help school children of poor families by way of donating equipment needed educational needs according to organisers.
