Weerasinghe for a massive new vision

Kandy SC’s recently-elected president Mahesh Weerasinghe is all out to give a massive new vision for the future and make it the friendliest club. His appointment is a significant one and comes at a time when Kandy’s rugby ambitions continue to grow.

Mahesh is all out to work diligently with all in order to continue progress in rugby and with club affairs. As President, it is his job to represent the club and ensure their voices are heard.

He has also got an efficient secretary in Sujeewa Liyanage who will put things right in the club.

Kingswood opens season on Sep 14

Kingswood College will start their inter-school cricket season for 2018/19 on September 14/15 against Nalanda College at home.

The side is led by fourth year player Deegayu Bandara and his deputy is third year player and wicket keeper Hashika Gamage. They are coached by Prasad Ranawaka and assisted by Harsha Diana and Ruwantha Hathurusinghe. The coaching consultant is Malcolm Perera and POG is Lanka Francis - Deputy Principal.

Trinity awards Colours, Lions

Trinity College Colours and Lions were awarded for basketball, cricket, rugby, swimming and weightlifting.

COLOURS: Basketball: Y.S. Malawana, Cricket: K. Senadeera, A. Anandakumara, R. Peiris. Rugby: V. Ranarajah, L. Calyanarathne. Swimming: S.M. Angekumbura, H.M.S. Hapukotuwa. Weightlifting: P.D. Jayasuriya, N. Jayakody, M. Abdullah, HP Mayadunne, GG Gamage (re-awarded).

Rajans take on Maliyadeva

Dharmaraja College will play their first inter-school cricket match for the season 2018/19 against Maliyadeva College on September 7 and 8 at Kurunegala. In the 2018/19 season they can only play seven matches in addition to the eight S.L.S.C.A tournament games.

The big match against Kingswood will be the 113th encounter at Pallekele for the T.B. Tennakoon Memorial Trophy.

Bandara to lead Trinity

All-rounder Pubudu Bandara is tipped to lead the Trinity College cricket team this season. Pubudu is a fine cricketer who bats left hand and bowls right arm. Last season he achieved the milestone of having scored 1000 runs and was awarded the Lion. This time he is with more new faces in the side and should lead the side from the front.
