Jason Dissanayake told to submit ‘show cause’ letter

30 September, 2018

Kandy Sports Club player Jason Dissanayake has been told by Sri Lanka Rugby to submit a “show cause” letter following his non-availability to represent the national team at the first Leg of the Asian Sevens two weeks ago.

He has been given seven days to reply to their letter following which disciplinary action will be taken against him.

Dissanayake had earlier informed Sri Lanka Rugby that due to a family commitment he will not be able to stand for selection, but it was reported that he had proceeded to Dubai to play in a private tournament.

Head selector Rohan Abeykoon had already informed Sri Lanka Rugby that Dissanayake will not be considered for a place in the Sri Lanka team for tournaments for the rest of the year. The Disciplinary Committee of Sri Lanka Rugby has now been told to decide on a course of action against Dissanayake after studying his “show cause” letter which they are expecting.
