Sri Lanka win and lose at Asian Sevens

Sri Lanka had mixed fortunes at the Asian Rugby Sevens tournament being held in South Korea yesterday as they first beat Chinese Taipei by 33 points to 12 and then lost to Hong Kong 31-14. Against Chinese Taipei Sri Lanka scored their tries through Dinuk Amarasinghe (1), Nishon Perera (1), Kevin Dixon (1), Reeza Rafaideen (1) and Buddima Piyarathne (1).

Dixon also put over two conversions while Sudam Sooriarachchi was on target with one kick.

Sri Lanka found it difficult to overcome Hong Kong despite leading 14-12 at half time.

Hong Kong came back through their powerful forwards and overcame Sri Lanka in the second half.

Jack Neville (1), Toby Fenn (1), James Hood (1), Max Denmark (1) and Mike Coverdale (1) scored the tries for Hong Kong.

Dinuk Amarasinghe and Srinath Sooriyabandara scored a try each for Sri Lanka. Sooriyabandara also made a conversion with Reeza Raffaideen on target with the other.
