Expolanka Group retained the Mercantile Football Association Sevens title 2018 with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Amana Bank in the Cup Championship final, at the Race Course International Rugby Football Stadium, recently.

LB Finance won the Plate Championship while Smart Shirts won the Bowl Championship. The first ever tournament conducted for the MFA for non members played for the Shield was won by United Tobacco Processing (UTP).

The 39th edition conducted in the MFA’s centenary year was sponsored by Moose Clothing Company.

Semi-finals: AIA Insurance beat CW Mackie 2-1, United Tobacco Processing beat No Limit Clothing 1-0.

Final: United Tobacco Processing beat AIA Insurance 4-0.

Bowl Championship

Semi-finals: Smart shirts beat SL Telecom 1-0, Seylan Bank beat Commercial Leasing on penalties 6-5 (full time nil-all).

Final: Smart Shirts beat Seylan Bank 2-0

Cup Championship:

Semi-finals: Expolanka Group beat Commercial Bank 3-0, Amana Bank beat John Keells on penalties 3-2 (full time 1-1)

Final: Expolanka Group beat Amana Bank 4-0, after leading 2-0 at half time. Goal scorers, MCM Rishnas (2), ADK de Silva (1), MAS Jain.

Plate Championship:

Semi-finals: LB Finance beat Commercial Bank 3-0, John Keells beat Ceylinco Insurance 2-0

Final: LB Finance beat John Keells 3-1

Cup Championship Special Awards:

Best Goal Keeper: M. Imran (Expolanka), Best Player: M. Rishnas (Expolanka)

Plate Championship Best Goal Keeper: Usman Hameen (LB Finance), Best Player: S. Niresh (LB Finance)

Most Senior Player: B.H. Nishantha (Ceylinco Insurance)
