New storeyed building for Darussalam Maha Vidyalayam

The opening ceremony of the new four storeyed building with 12 class rooms at the Darus Salam Maha Vidyalaya, Jumma Masjid Road, Maligawatte Colombo at the school premises recently. The school band welcomed the chief guest Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Principal K.M.M. Nalir delivered the welcome address and primary students sang the welcome song.

Member of Parliament, Colombo District Mujeebur Rahuman in his speech, praised Prime Minister and Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam for their contributions to build the school building. “My intention is to develop the other schools such as Rajasinghe Maha Vidyalaya, Mahabodi Vidyalaya and Hemamali Balika Vidyalaya in Colombo shortly,” he said.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said the school is advancing but there is lack of space. He praised Mujeebur Rahuman for his dedication to build the new school building. He also said that he hopes to build two more schools in the Colombo North and Colombo Central and also hopes another in the Wellawatte area. Prime Minister requested the parents to provide good education to their children as the government is spending a lot of money for their education. Western Provincial Councillors, Deputy Mayor of Colombo M.T.M. Iqbal, members of the Colombo Municipal Council, members of the Past Pupils' Association, School Development Society, teachers, parents and students were present.
